Celebration of the 150th anniversary of the marriage of Zelie and Louis Martin on July 13, 1858
The "marriage medallion"
"Marriage medallion" Louis designed and gave to Zelie as a souvenir; it was blessed during their wedding ceremony. At right, the front side, with the biblical images of Sarah and Tobias above the names of Louis and Zelie. At left, the reverse: a wreath of roses, symbol of love and fidelity, surrounding the engraving "M.L. (Louis Martin) united to G. Z. (Zelie Guerin), July 13, 1858." This medallion is now in the custody of the Bishopric of the diocese of Sees, Zelie's home diocese. It will be displayed in Alencon as part of the celebrations there on October 18, 2008, the vigil of the beatification.
